Introduction

The Department of Industrial Engineering & Management offers 4 years degree program in the discipline of Industrial Engineering & Management.

Industrial Engineering is about making the best use of available resources like Men, Money, Machines, Materials and Methods to increase the productivity & quality, lower the cost, assure safety of personnel & optimum utilization of machine resources, create and maintain good working environment to improve efficiency & effectiveness.

The VISION of the Department of Industrial Engineering & Management: Regional: To be the leader in South Asia in the area of Industrial Engineering, Project Management, Works of Methods Engineering & Resource Optimization Sciences. Global: To be recognized worldwide as a Center of Excellence in Engineering Education, Research and Application in the areas of Advanced Industrial Engineering/Project Management Tools, Works Measurement & Methods Engineering & Resources Optimization. The Mission of Industrial Engineering & Management Department is to provide high quality Engineering Education, Design Research and Application focused with prevailing demands of country’s Industrial Sector in particular and Global Competitive demands in general, in the areas of Industrial Engineering, Project Management, Works Measurement and Methods Engineering & Resources Optimization. The specific components of this mission are:

  • To provide high quality state of the art education in advanced Industrial Engineering/Project Management Tools, Works Measurement & Methods Engineering and Resource Optimization Sciences that prepares professionals who can perform jobs in the domain of their fields of specialization at the highest quality level and who are competitive worldwide.
  • To conduct Research that expands knowledge in the areas of Advanced Industrial Engineering/Project Management, work design and measurement and provide high quality graduate program that prepare students properly in their areas of specialty.
  • To provide high quality professional training, projects with industry and consulting in the areas of Industrial Engineering, standard work design and measurement those are up-to-date and competitive worldwide.
  • Program General Objectives:

    Objective 1: Prepare students who can understand and formulate real world problems
    In the Domain of Industrial Engineering, Project Management, Works Design / Measurement and Resource Optimization Tools.

    Objective 2: Develop student’s abilities in critical thinking, problem solving and team work.

    Objective 3: Prepare students to improve planning and utilization of resources and assist organizations to make optimal decisions.

    Objective 4: Prepare students to conduct experiments, collect data, and perform analysis and interpretation to draw valid conclusions.

    Objective 5: Graduate students having the ability to identify, examine, analyze, stabilize, control and design organizations critical processes.

    Objective 6: Prepare students to be proficient in applying information Technology.

    Objective 7: Prepare students to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

    Objective 8: Graduate students will the ability to engage in Life Long Learning and growth in the field of Industrial Engineering and to understand professional and ethical responsibility.

    Department has well equipped laboratories with qualified faculty as lab Incharge. The Department of Industrial Engineering & Management has 10 fully functional labs namely; Mechanics of Materials, Fluid Mechanics, Metrology, Human Factors Engineering, Works & Methods Engineering, Engineering Drawing Hall, Computers Laboratory, Thermodynamics, CAD/CAM, Mechanical Workshop. Department has vision to develop four additional labs up to year 2017.
