Abdul Waheed Bhutto is Chairperson of Department. He has completed Ph.D from Mehran University-Jamshoro. He has received his Master’s Degree from NED University Karachi in 2001. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Dawood College of Engineering and Technology -Karachi in 1998. Just after completion of his Bachelor of Chemical Engineering, he started his career as Lecturer in the Department of Chemical Engineering, DUET. He has also worked in Pakistan Refinery Limited for one year. He has 18 year research experience in renewable and alternate energy and authored more than 30 publications in his research field. Currently he is concentrating his efforts on improving the efficiency of processes for biofuel production from lignocellulosic material. Dr Bhutto is the recipient of the Research Productivity Award (RPA) for last four consecutive years by Pakistan Council for Science and Technology (PCST).

Dr. Haroon Jhangda

Prof. Dr. Haroon Jangda, is associated with Dawood since 1964 when he sent abroad on Dawood Foundation Merit Scholarship, where he acquired degrees of M.Sc. Tech and Ph.D. in Fuel Technology and Chemical Engineering from University of Sheffield, England.. After serving Dawood Group as Project Engineer both in England and Pakistan, he joined Dawood College of Engineering & Technology as Head of Chemical Engineering Department. He has published over thirteen research papers in National and International journals. He was named PAUL HARRIS FELLOW by the Rotary Foundation of Rotary International in appreciation of his tangible and significant assistance given for the furtherance of better understanding and friendly relation among people of the world. He is also the founder fellow of Pakistan Academy of Engineering. He associate with Dawood has now completed the golden jubilee.

Dr. Rashid Hussain Abro

Dr. Rashid Hussain Abro received his bachelors and masters degrees in Chemical Engineering in 2007 and 2011 respectively from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, Pakistan and Ph.D degree in Chemical Engineering from Beijing University of Chemical Technology, Beijing , China on HEC faculty development fully funded scholarship. His PhD research focuses on the applications of ionic liquid for sulfur removal from fuel oils. He has 10-year research experience as lecturer in Chemical Engineering Department, Dawood university of Engineering and Technology and Chemical Engineer at Pakistan Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR). Dr. Abro is an author of several SCI publications in top journals of Chemical Engineering and currently he is concentrating his efforts on application of Ionic Liquids in other separation technologies. Dr. Abro is also reviewer of many SCI journal, such as RSC Advances, Clean Technologies and Environmental Policy, Chemical Engineering Communications and Arabian Journal of Chemistry.

Dr. Shahab Alam

Dr. Muhammad Shahab Alam completed his Ph.D. in Chemistry from HEJ Research Institute of Chemistry University of Karachi in March 2012. His PhD thesis was on “Isolation of Bioactive Natural Products from Lonicera nummularifolia, and Related Medicinal Plants and Combinatorial Synthesis of Natural Product Libraries”. After completion of his PhD he immediately joined Chemical Engineering Department of DUET as Assistant Professor. His current Research Fields of interests are Combinatorial Chemistry, Natural Product Chemistry, Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Ionic liquid and Production of Biologically important compound from yeast/algae.

Engr. Nusrat Kiran

Engr. Nusrat Kiran has done her Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from Dawood University of Engineering & Technology in 2006. She has started her career as Trainee Engineer from Pakistan Refinery Limited and left the Refinery as Project Engineer in 2009. During her tenure in Refinery, she was involved in many technical and process related works. She was also a keen team member of Refinery Up-gradation Project. She had a great passion to her field as she had completed her Masters of Engineering in Chemical and Process Engineering from NED in 2010, with the full time job with refinery. She switched her career in education and joined Chemical Engineering Department of Karachi University in 2011. She joined Dawood University of Engineering & Technology as Assistant Professor in 2012 and serves the department in many capacities including teaching, lab assistance, member and secretary Board of Studies, Program Team member for Quality Enhancement Cell, coordinator for the Re-Accreditation committee for the department, involve in the preparation of 2nd SAR for the department and Female students Affair In-charge for the entire university. She has participated in the 21st Masters Trainer Program of HEC for the Faculty Professional Development. With her professional career, she is also enhancing her academic as she is doing her PhD in Environment Sciences where her area of research is Particulate Pollution in Ambient Air.

Engr. Ghulamullah Maitlo

Engr. Ghulamullah Maitlo completed his Bachelors’ degree in Chemical Engineering in 2001 and Masters’ degree in Energy and Environmental Engineering in 2012. He started his professional career as Assistant Engineer in Habib Ethanol Distillery, Nawabshah in 2001 with the responsibility to maintain smooth operation of the plant. He then joined Hycarbex Gasfield as a HSE Manager in 2010. His role was to minimize work related hazards at the plant. He is a NEBOSH Certified fr m UK. He is also a certified trainee in safe chemical handling, fire extinguisher operations, Environmental impact assessment and initial environmental examinations from PISD. He joined Department of Chemical Engineering, Dawood University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi-Pakistan as Assistant Professor in 2012. He is now pursing his PhD. in Biomass gasification from Mehran university of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro. He has presented and published couple of research papers in national conferences held in Pakistan.

Engr. Dr. Shaukat Mazari

Dr. Shaukat Ali Mazari has joined Department of Chemical Engineering, Dawood University of Engineering and Technology as an Assistant Professor in August 2016. Dr. Shaukat holds a PhD degree in Chemical Engineering, majoring in Purification and Separation Processes. Dr. Shaukat is an alumni of Department of Chemical Engineering, DUET. He completed his graduation in 2012 obtaining third position in the department. Soon after completing his B.E he worked as a procurement engineer in a private firm. Shaukat was offered fast track PhD admission in University of Malaya and Research Assistance-ship in September 2013. He completed his PhD in July 2016. During his PhD he supervised undergraduate and postgraduate students in University of Malaya for their research projects. University of Malaya is one of the top universities of world and ranks first in Malaysia. He conducted high quality research during his PhD tenure. Currently, he has nine research papers published in The Science Citation Index (SCI)/Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) impact factor journals. His areas of research are carbon capture and renewable and sustainable energy.

Dr. Abdul Karim Shah

Dr. Abdul Karim Shah completed his bachelors’ and masters’ degree in Chemical Engineering from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology in 2009 and 2012 respectively. He started his professional career from industry and then moved towards education. He joined Department of Chemical Engineering, Mehran UET, as Lecturer in 2010, where he was involved in teaching, laboratory experiments, conferences, seminars, research innovation and sports activities. After completion of master degree, he was appointed in Department of Chemical Engineering, Dawood University of Engineering and Technology as Lecturer in September 2012. He also worked as a visiting faculty member in Department of Petroleum Engineering, University of Karachi. In August, 2013, he was awarded with HEC full funded scholarship (HRDI, Batch-III, Phase-I) on merit basis for pursuing PhD studies at Hanyang University, South Korea. During PhD studies, he involved in industrial research projects and academic activities. After three years continuous struggle, He was awarded with PhD degree in Fusion Chemical Engineering field with competitive achievements. His research field areas are organic synthesis, catalysis, hierarchical zeolite, mesoporous, nanoparticle technology, wastewater treatment, coagulation-adsorption and bioprocess. He has good number of publications in national, international and high impact factor SCI journals as well as he also presented his research work in international conferences. After PhD degree, he is serving as Assistant Professor in Department of Chemical Engineering since March, 2017. His foreign qualification and research experience will definitely create good research innovated environment in DUET for students and faculty.

Engr. Sadia Karim

Engr. Sadia Karim received her Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Dawood College of Engineering & Technology, Karachi in 1997. Immediately after completing her B.E., she joined the Department of Chemical Engineering, Dawood College of Engineering and Technology as lecturer. She has also worked as consultant with National Environmental Consultancy (NEC) in their project on Environment Technology Program for Industry (ETPI) from 2001 to 2002. She has also served as lecturer in Department of Chemical Engineering in University of Karachi in the year 2002. She rejoined Department of Chemical Engineering, Dawood College of Engineering and Technology, Karachi as lecturer in 2005. She is also the member of Board of Studies of Department of Chemical Engineering in DUET. She is now pursing her Masters’ from Hamdard University in Environmental Engineering.

Engr. Muhammad Azam Usto

Engr. Muhammad Azam Usto received his Bachelors’ degree in Chemical engineering. After graduating he joined Gatron group of industries as quality assurance In charge. He then joined Department of Chemical Engineering in February 2007 as a Lecturer. He has installed and maintained many equipment of Department of chemical and industrial engineering, and has trained the operation of those equipment to many teachers and lab engineers. Engr. Azam Usto is the In-Charge of M.I.S (Management Information System) through which he maintains the attendance of all the departments of university. He was also nominated as P.T member of Quality enhancement cell. He was also the Academic Coordinator of Chemical Engineering department in 2011. He is now pursuing his Masters’ in Environmental Engineering from Hamdard University. Engr. Azam Usto has attended 8th National Workshop on Occupational Health, Safety Environment (IEE) and Interaction between industries and educational institutes (IEE). He has also participated in Collaborative Research Network conducted by British Council.

Engr. Syed Mazhar Imam

Engr. Mazhar Imam received his B.E. degree in Chemical Engineering from NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi in 2005. He started his career as Trainee Engineer from Al-Abass Cement Industries Limited in 2006 and left the organization after 1.5 years of services as Shift Engineer. He then joined Dawood University of Engineering and Technology in 2007 as Lecturer. He has good expertise over many chemical engineering courses and has supervised many final year projects. He facilitates students in laboratory work and has taken part in many laboratory up-gradation programs. He is also pursuing his Masters’ from Hamdard University in Environmental Engineering.

Engr. Saadia Athar

Engr. Saadia Athar holds Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Chemical Engineering, certification in Energy Management and Masters’ of Engineering in Chemical Engineering all from NED University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi. She joined Department of Chemical Engineering in September 2012. She has good expertise over chemical engineering courses and has supervised many final year projects. With her strong written and communication skills and sound academic and technical skills she has become a phenomenal faculty member.

Abdul Sattar Jatoi

Lecturer


Lecturer in Chemical Engineering Department Dawood University of Engineering and Technology, Karachi. He is pursuing PhD from Chemical Engineering Department, Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro. He received master degree from chemical engineering department in 2014 from Mehran UET Jamshoro and graduation from same university in 2012. His master research work related with numerical simulation of ethanol production. He has published more than 9 publications in field of modeling and simulation, emission reduction and biofuel production, and about 16 conferences in different international conferences. His main expertise are biofuel production, emission control, numerical modelling, and simulation, simulation software such are aspen hysys, Korf hydraulic, Matlab and CFD Software regarding ansyis fluent and gambit for geometry.

Engr. Sajid Riaz

Engr. Sajid Riaz is working as a Lecturer at Department of Chemical Engineering, Dawood University of Engineering and Technology. He holds a Master’s degree in Chemical and Energy Engineering from Otto Von Guericke University, Magdeburg, Germany. During his post-graduation, his research work was dedicated to the experimental and statistical investigation of the Minimum Ignition Temperatures and Lower Explosible Limits of hybrid mixtures, which is considered to be a fairly complex phenomenon in process safety. Prior to higher studies, he worked in a packaging industry that deals with BOPET manufacturing for one year as a Production Planning Engineer.

Engr. Muhammad Hassam Wajahat

Engr. Muhammad Hassam Wajahat is a lecturer at the Department of Chemical Engineering at Dawood University of Engineering and Technology. He holds a Bachelor degree in Chemical Engineering from National University of Sciences and Technology Islamabad and a Master’s degree in Petroleum Engineering from Delft University of Technology, Nederlands. His area of research was dedicated to modelling a well to investigate the effect of salt precipitation during gas production which was primarily focused on the North Sea. His research is published by Lambert Academic Publishing.

Engr. Muhammad Tanzeel Usman

Engr. Muhammad Tanzeel Usman is working as a Lecturer at Department of Chemical Engineering, Dawood University of Engineering & Technology. He holds a Master’s degree in Chemical and Energy Engineering from Otto-von-Guericke University, Magdeburg, Germany. During his post-graduation, his research work was focused on “Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) Simulation to study the effect of non-homogeneous particles and porosity in a normal shaft kiln using Porous Media Model (P.M.M)” is regarded as complex process in cement manufacturing industry. Prior to his master studies, he worked as Operation Engineer in an oil refinery for 1.5 years.

Engr. Abdul Qayoom Memon received his degree of Bachelors and Masters in Chemical Engineering from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro in 2010. He completed his Masters’ of Engineering in Chemical Engineering also from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology in 2016. He joined Department of Chemical Engineering, Dawood University of Engineering and Technology in September 2012 as a Lab Engineer.

Engr. Zubair Hashmi completed his Bachelors’ of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from NED University of Engineering and Technology in 2013. He then Joined Department of Chemical Engineering, Dawood University of Engineering and Technology in September 2014 as a Lab Engineer. He is currently pursuing his Masters’ of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from NED University of Engineering and Technology.
