Poster competition

A poster presentation competition was conducted by 2016 Batch at Seminar Hall under the supervision of Engr. Imran Khan, Lab Engineer at Dept. of Telecommunication Engineering. The competition was attended by faculty members of Electronics Engineering Department and Telecommunication Engineering Department. Engr. Nadia judged the participants and gave her feedback to them. Certificates were distributed among top three winner teams.

Project Competition – 15TE v/s 14TE

Networking project competition was held between 15 and 14 batches of Telecommunication Department at DUET Auditorium, under the supervision of Engr. Farhan Umrani, Lecturer and Engr. Saima Khadim, Lab Engineer at Dept. of Telecommunication Engineering. Competition was judged by Chairman Dr. Syed Izhar Hussain Zaidi, Lecturer Engr. Bushra Shaikh and Engr. Rizwan Iqbal. Certificates were awarded to the top three teams.

OBE Workshop

The workshop on Outcome based education (OBE)and way of aligning course contents, assessment and delivery as per OBE was conducted by Engr. Jitander Kumar Pabani regarding the latest trends in World Education. The workshop was attended by faculty members of Telecommunication Engineering department, DUET, Karachi.

Electronics project competition

Poster and presentation competition of batch 2016 was conducted at Seminar Hall, DUET, Karachi. Being the first year students, they performed very well and made different circuits on Electronics devices. Few of the students made projects on robots, too. Event was attended and appreciated by respected Vice Chancellor, pro vice-chancellor, Academic Coordinator and Director of Student Affairs.

CPD Seminar – Spectrum Sensing on Cognitive Radio

A seminar was conducted by Engr. Bushra Shaikh, Lecturer in the Department of Telecommunication Engineering on ‘Spectrum Sensing in Cognitive Radio’ under Continuing Professional Development department at Seminar Hall, DUET. The seminar was attended by Academic Coordinator, Director QEC, faculty members of Telecommunication Department and students.

FYP Presentations

Final year presentations of 13 batch Telecom were conducted in the end of December, 2016. Externals were invited from Mehran University of Engineering & Technology and Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology to evaluate the FYPs.

PhD faculty annexation to the Department

Dr. Saqib Bhatti has been appointed as Assistant Professor in the Dept. of Telecommunication Engineering, DUET. Dr. Bhatti had received his Bachelors of Engineering degree in Telecommunication from Mehran University of Engineering and Technology, Jamshoro, Pakistan in 2011. He had worked in Huawei on CMPAK project for 3G/4G swap in 2012. He received his Ms-Ph.D. degree of Electronics and Communication Engineering from Hanyang University, Seoul, South Korea in 2017. His current areas of interest includes spectrum sensing, fuzzy logic, multidimensional scaling and cognitive Radio Networks.

Participation of Faculty in International Conferences

Engr. Bushra Shaikh, Lecturer in the Dept. of Telecommunication Engineering had attended International Conference on Open Source Systems & technologies 2016 (ICOSST) at University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore on 16 Dec, 2016 to present her research paper titled ‘An unsigned Autocorrelation based Spectrum sensing Approach in Cognitive Radio’.

Engr. Zeeshan Ali Memon, currently working as a Lecturer in Telecommunication Engineering Department of Dawood University of Engineering and Technology Karachi, had won scholarship for one week long summer course in Tokyo, Japan among more than 100 people around the world on Global Navigation Satellite System GNSS. Mr. Memon has also been honored to become the life member of Japan Science club 'Sakura'.
