Directorate of Indrustrial Liaison and Placement Bureau
It is my great pleasure to present the Annual Report of the Directorate of Industrial Liaison and Placement Bureau (DILPB). This year has been exceptionally productive and impactful in strengthening industry-academia linkages and enhancing graduate employability. Under the visionary leadership of Prof. Dr. Samreen Hussain (T.I.), DUET has taken bold and progressive steps to ensure that its graduates are professionally competent, industry-ready, and aligned with modern technological demands. The Directorate remained committed to bridging the gap between academia and industry by creating meaningful opportunities for students, graduates, faculty members, and industrial stakeholders to collaborate for mutual growth and development.
DUET has actively pursued partnerships with leading industries, multinational organizations, and corporate sectors to enhance the educational and professional experiences of its students. A comprehensive graduate directory of graduating students was developed and shared with prominent industries across Karachi and other regions of Pakistan, resulting in numerous employment opportunities and successful job placements. Continuous engagement with employers enabled the university to understand evolving industrial requirements and align student competencies with current market expectations.
Throughout the year, multiple on-campus recruitment drives, career counseling sessions, and employer engagement activities were organized, providing renowned organizations with the opportunity to directly interact with DUET students and recruit them for various technical, engineering, management, and IT-related positions. These recruitment activities significantly improved the employment prospects of graduating students and strengthened DUET's reputation among employers as a source of highly capable and technically skilled graduates.
Industry-based Final Year Design Projects (FYDPs) and collaborative research initiatives enabled students to work on real-world industrial challenges and develop innovative, practical, and sustainable solutions. Faculty members and industrial experts worked closely with students to ensure that projects addressed current industrial problems and contributed toward technological advancement and process improvement. These collaborations also promoted applied research, innovation, and knowledge transfer between academia and industry.
Regular industrial visits were conducted for students of various departments to expose them to industrial environments, operational technologies, manufacturing systems, quality control procedures, and workplace practices. These visits provided students with valuable practical exposure and enhanced their understanding of industrial operations beyond classroom learning. Furthermore, seminars, technical workshops, webinars, and interactive networking sessions were arranged in collaboration with industry professionals, alumni, and corporate representatives to promote professional development and career awareness among students
Internship Opportunities and Professional Development
The Directorate also facilitated internship opportunities in leading industries and organizations, enabling students to gain practical experience, improve professional skills, and understand workplace ethics and responsibilities. These internships played a vital role in preparing students for successful careers and improving their confidence and employability. In addition, strong coordination with alumni and industrial partners further strengthened DUET's professional network and created new opportunities for future collaborations.
Through these comprehensive and integrated initiatives, DUET continues to produce graduates who are academically strong, professionally competent, and equipped with the practical and technical skills required to excel in the modern industrial sector. The Directorate of Industrial Liaison and Placement Bureau remains dedicated to expanding industrial partnerships, enhancing student career development, and contributing toward the socio-economic and technological progress of Pakistan.
INTERNSHIP PLACEMENT AND INDUSTRY EXPOSURE
In line with the newly implemented mandatory internship requirement, the Directorate of Industrial Liaison and Placement Bureau (DILPB) undertook an extensive and highly coordinated internship facilitation process to ensure meaningful industrial exposure for students across all departments. More than 1,100 students were formally referred to a diverse range of industries and organizations, including engineering, manufacturing, information technology, chemical, energy, telecommunications, and public-sector organizations. These referrals were made through strong industrial partnerships and continuous coordination with corporate stakeholders, reflecting DUET's growing reputation and industry confidence in its students.
During Summer 2025, more than 750 internships were successfully completed, marking an exceptional achievement in providing large-scale industrial exposure within a single academic cycle. A significant majority of these placements were arranged directly through DILPB's dedicated outreach, networking, and coordination efforts, ensuring that students received valuable opportunities for practical training, professional grooming, and workplace engagement. These internships enabled students to gain hands-on experience, understand industrial operations and organizational culture, and apply their academic knowledge to real-world challenges. The initiative played a vital role in strengthening students' technical, communication, and problem-solving skills while significantly enhancing their employability and career readiness at the time of graduation.
Similarly, all students of Batch 2024, whose third academic year is commencing, are currently being referred to various industries and organizations for Summer Internship 2026. Through continuous coordination with industrial partners and corporate organizations, DILPB is actively facilitating internship opportunities across multiple sectors, including engineering, manufacturing, IT, energy, telecommunications, chemicals, and public-sector organizations. It is anticipated that the majority of students from Batch 2024 will successfully complete internships during Summer 2026, enabling them to gain valuable industrial exposure, practical training, and professional experience at an early stage of their academic journey. This initiative is expected to further strengthen students' technical competencies, workplace understanding, and career preparedness, while reinforcing DUET's commitment to developing highly skilled, professionally competent, and industry-ready graduates.
PUBLICATION AND IMPACT OF THE GRADUATE DIRECTORY
DILPB had the privilege of publishing the flagship Graduate Directory for the graduating Batch 2021 (and Batch 2020F for B. Arch). This directory, designed to present graduate profiles in a structured and industry-friendly format, was widely circulated among reputable organizations across Pakistan, particularly within Karachi's industrial ecosystem. The initiative received an overwhelmingly positive response, as many companies appreciated DUET's proactive efforts in bridging the gap between academia and industry by connecting employers with skilled and competent young graduates. As a direct outcome, numerous employment opportunities emerged for DUET students through organizations that reviewed the Graduate Directory and approached the university for recruitment. This publication played a significant role in projecting DUET as a reliable hub of qualified technical talent and industry-ready professionals.
Similarly, the Graduate Directory for the graduating Batch 2022F (and Batch 2021F in the case of B. Arch) was successfully developed and published in the month of February 2026 at the beginning of the students' final semester. The directory was strategically shared with major industries, multinational organizations, engineering firms, IT companies, and public-sector organizations to maximize employment opportunities for graduating students. Through DILPB's continuous engagement and targeted outreach efforts, many students secured placements in well-known industries even before appearing in their final examinations.
This achievement reflects the growing confidence of employers in DUET graduates and highlights the effectiveness of the university's industry engagement strategy. The early placement of students not only demonstrates their technical competence and professional readiness but also creates a remarkable success story for graduating students, motivating junior batches and further strengthening DUET's reputation as a leading institution producing highly capable and employable graduates.

The recruitment drives provided graduating students with direct access to employment opportunities and professional interaction with industry leaders. Many students were shortlisted and recruited for internships, trainee engineer positions, management trainee programs, and technical roles across multiple sectors. These initiatives significantly contributed toward improving graduate employability and strengthening DUET's reputation as a reliable source of highly skilled and industry-ready professionals. The repeated engagement of these reputable organizations demonstrates DUET'S strong and expanding industry linkages and highlights the university's role as an important pipeline for emerging technical talent in Pakistan.
