The Vice Chancellor of Dawood University of Engineering and Technology, Engr. Prof. Dr. Samreen Hussain, attended a symposium on embrace equity held at the Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) headquarters in Karachi. Dr. Samreen Hussain was invited to speak at the event, which focused on promoting gender equality in the workplace and beyond. During her address, Vice Chancellor emphasized the importance of creating a supportive environment for women to thrive in traditionally male-dominated fields such as engineering and technology. She highlighted the need for equal opportunities for women in education and employment, and stressed the role of education and awareness in achieving gender equity. Engr. Prof. Dr. Samreen Hussain also discussed the challenges women face in pursuing careers in STEM fields, such as discrimination and bias, and emphasized the need for systemic changes to ensure equal representation and opportunities for women. The symposium was attended by representatives from various organizations and institutions, including Dr. Shamshad Akhtar , Chairperson SSGC, Imran Maniar, Managing Director SSGC, Naz Khan, Principle Country Officer, IFC Pakistan, Nida Rizwan Farid, Aerospace Engineer, SSGC employees, members of the academic community, and civil society organizations working on gender equity issues. The event was praised as a successful platform for promoting dialogue and collaboration on issues related to gender equity in the workplace and society at large.
