KARACHI: A state-level delegation from Zimbabwe, under the Department of Presidential and National Scholarship, visited Dawood University of Engineering and Technology (DUET), Karachi, on April 22, 2025. The visit was organized in coordination with the Pak-Africa Economic Council (PAEC), aiming to strengthen educational and business ties between Pakistan and African nations.
The delegation was led by Hon. Raymore Machingura (M.P), Executive Director, along with Dr. Wadzanai Kachere, Dr. William Taringa, Dr. Dennis Murekachiro, Dr. Raphael Makota, and Mr. B. Chikoze.
One of the key purposes of the visit was to meet Zimbabwean students currently enrolled at DUET and to explore further opportunities to send more students in the future. Discussions were held around the possibility of allowing Zimbabwean candidates to apply through open merit seats, enabling them to enter via the same admission process as local students—beyond the routine nomination system.
Prof. Dr. Tauha Hussain Ali, Vice Chancellor of Mehran University of Engineering and Technology (MUET), also graced the occasion. DUET is grateful to him for taking the time to visit, engage with the delegates, and participate in healthy and productive discussions that enriched the exchange.
Engr. Prof. Dr. Samreen Hussain (S.I, T.I), Vice Chancellor of DUET, welcomed the esteemed guests and gave a comprehensive introduction to the university, its academic offerings, research initiatives, and admission criteria.
The meeting was attended by the Pro Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Deans of all faculties, and the Director of Student Affairs. Following the session, the delegation visited a student project exhibition where students from various departments presented their innovative projects, reflecting DUET’s strong emphasis on hands-on learning and creativity.
